The Foundational Stage: Playgroup to Class 2

The early years of a child’s life are a period of incredible wonder, curiosity, and rapid brain development. At SRVS SCHOOLSIKANDERPUR , our Foundational Stage program (covering Playgroup, Nursery, KG, Class 1, and Class 2) is mindfully designed to transform this natural curiosity into a lifelong love for learning.

We understand that young children do not learn through rigid lectures; they learn by interacting with the world around them. Our curriculum seamlessly blends structured play with early academics, focusing on five core areas of development:

Cognitive & Linguistic Skills: Building strong foundations in phonics, early reading, communication, and logical thinking.
Social & Emotional Growth: Helping children learn empathy, sharing, self-regulation, and collaborative play.
Physical & Motor Skills: Developing fine motor skills (writing, drawing, cutting) and gross motor skills (balancing, running, coordination) through active play.
Creative Expression: Encouraging imagination through music, art, storytelling, and dramatic play.

The Learning Journey Breakdown

1.Playgroup & Nursery (Ages 2–4):Exploring & Socializing.

The focus is on smooth transition from home to school. Children learn through sensory play, rhymes, storytelling, and interactive games, building early socialization skills and vocabulary.

2.Kindergarten (KG / Prep) (Ages 4–6):Building the Framework.

We introduce formal phonics, letter formation, and early mathematical concepts (shapes, counting, sorting) using concrete learning materials. Group activities foster teamwork and listening skills.

3.Classes 1 & 2 (Ages 6–8):Transition to Formal Learning.

Students move from play-based exploration to structured academic learning. We emphasize fluent reading comprehension, expressive writing, and foundational numeracy (addition, subtraction, problem-solving), while keeping the classroom environment collaborative and engaging.

Our Approach to Assessment:

At this tender age, we believe standard testing creates unnecessary pressure. Instead, our educators map each child's growth through continuous, stress-free observations, celebrating individual milestones and unique learning paces.
